Free Range and Organic Housing - Consumer demand for free range and organic produce is growing, but free range poultry housing has been available for many years. We have in-depth experience of this sector and can design and construct housing which meets the general and specific needs of these market sectors, including:
Meeting animal welfare regulations - Killen houses have pop hole doors in the side sections and meet RSPCA Freedom Foods and Lion Egg standards. Manually operated, insulated pop hole doors are supplied as standard and rack and pinion systems are available for automated operation.
Barn and Enriched Cage Units - We produce housing which meets the needs of Barn and Enriched cage laying units
Design and Layout – Killen housing is based on clear span, double or single posted trusses; if required, our housing can incorporate a roof overhang or verandas with a galebreaker. Because internal layout is an important issue, we consult carefully at the design stage to ensure that nests, slats, feeding and water systems are tailored to customer needs.
System Choice – Our housing can accommodate traditional, multi-tier, or enriched cage layer systems.
Ventilation – Our houses are designed to accommodate natural or forced ventilation systems.
Egg Collection, Handling and Storage – This takes place in a bright, easily-maintained main store which can be located at the middle or end of a house.
People are Important – To provide people with natural light and a good working environment, collection areas include windows and can be subdivided into egg stores, washroom areas and offices. |
